5 Ways to Use Holistic Wellness to Manage Stress

About five years ago, I was so stressed out that I cracked my tooth in the middle of the night. The force of grinding my teeth caused a crack down the side of my tooth that was visible to my dentist the next week; a dentist who had always mentioned to me that grinding teeth can worsen with stress. I walked out of the dentist office thinking, ‘I am a complete nut case. I’ve now harmed my body because I’m so stressed out’. I realized that I wasn't managing my stress as well as I thought, and that I needed to find something that could help me get it under control. This unfortunate event took me down the rather unconventional path of exploring holistic wellness.
Often described as a way to treat the whole self – mind, body, and spirit, holistic wellness is essentially anything that is a natural method for self-care. Many of the methods that fall under this category have evolved over thousands of years in different countries around the world. Because of the various sources, it can often be a challenging world to navigate. So to make it a little easier, here are five methods that I have discovered over the course of my exploration into the world of holistic wellness that can help to manage stress:
· Acupuncture – great for chronic pain
· Hypnotherapy – great for reducing grinding/clenching of the teeth
In today’s fast paced world, it can be difficult to slow down and think about the stress that is impacting us on a daily basis. But if you take even a few minutes out of your day to give some of these self-care options a try, I’m positive it will make a difference in your life!
